The rights of Palestinian children in residential care centers
Palestinian children, as part of Defense for Children International – Palestine’s Child-Led Protection program and National Child Council, designed and wrote this video to educate their peers and duty bearers on the rights of children in residential care centers in Palestine. Residential care and protection centers are used as an alternative to detention for children in conflict with the law. This initiative is called Let Us Protect the Children at the Protection and Care Centers and was created in partnership with Terre des hommes Foundation.

This project, “Gender Justice to End Violence Against Women and Girls,” was funded by UNTF. Defense for Children International – Palestine (DCIP), Terre des hommes Foundation (TDH), and Women Affairs Technical Committees (WATC) cooperated to produce three child-led initiatives addressing issues related to challenges and ways for girls to access to justice equally and fairly. The initiatives, which include this video and two others, were fully designed and organized by the children in the Child-Led Protection teams and the National Child Council, under the support of DCIP. The three videos address child protection issues with special focus on early marriage, sexual harassment against girls, and the role of the childhood care centers in supporting children in conflict with the law to access to justice, especially girls. The initiatives are aiming to raise the awareness of the children, in general and girls, in particular on certain protection issues and support them to access justice.
